David is the Education manager of a maximum security facility in Western Australia. He rides a Harley Davidson which brings him into contact with both good riders and those whose affiliations have darker undertones inside the prison. His work with the hardened criminals at Corymbia contrasts with his desire to make a difference to their lives, and complicates a romantic relationship he is pursuing with the Assistant Superintendent of Security. A plot to kill an inmate is alleged, and Jack Pritard who is ex military intelligence, working for Prison Security must go undercover to gather evidence. What he finds is much more dangerous than anticipated and Jack has to rely on his experience from the army when it becomes apparent that he is known to a Colombian Cartel who are trying to kill him as revenge for taking down a major syndicate player. Few people know that 'inmate Jack Pritard' is an undercover officer, but David in Education is asked to be Jack's 'handler'. Jack becomes a 'confident' of one of the prisoners in protective custody and both exposes himself to discovery and discovers details of the murder plan. The plot and procedures used in prisons along with dangers and ingenuity of officers as well as those compromising their positions for personal gain, is based around true events; describing how contraband such as mobile phones, sim cards, drugs and weapons are smuggled into the prison for use by inmates. The manipulation and power struggles result in a phone used to order an assassination being found and the assassin is foiled as he tries to carry out the kill. This fast paced conclusion takes place both within the prison and spills out into the community. The author worked for twelve years in a maximum security prison as a teacher in the Dept. of Correctional Services Western Australia.
